All reasonable precautions are taken to prevent unauthorised access to this information. We do not disclose, give, sell, or transfer any personal information obtained about members from this repository to third parties. If a members personal information changes, or if they no longer need to access our repository, we will endeavour to provide a way to correct, update, or remove their personal data from our record.

Security Policy The confidentiality and security of data in the repository are matters of great importance to NAIMS-IR. This policy complies with the established standard operating procedures and policies of Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute, Health Canada, and FDA.

NAIMS-IR is hosted on the EduCloud Server which is a secure, self-managed cloud server service offered by UBC Information Technology. External access to EduCloud is controlled by premium Edge Gateway Firewall. All databases are backed up daily, and a crash-consistent backup is taken every night and vaulted to a remote site in Kamloops, BC directly. This backup system also meets provincial privacy requirements under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) legislation, which stipulates that consent must be obtained for data to be stored/accessed outside of Canada. The consent must specify who may store or access personal information outside of Canada, and the purpose of storing or accessing the personal information.

Access to the repository will be controlled through a defined access control policy, covering user identification and authentication. Access is given only to NAIMS members who have agreed upon and signed Member Repository Agreement, and have their proposal approved by the Data Governance Committee. This contractual binding requirement will also ensure appropriate use and protection of information assets.

NAIMS-IR only receives, stores and shares de-identified MRI data.
